Polykarp Ulin Agan: Lewak tapo – Zerspaltung der Kokosnuss. Versöhnungsritus bei den Padzis (Ostadonara) in Ostindonesien. 19-33

Abstract. – Lewak tapo is the most famous ritual of reconciliation which is performed by the Padzis of East Adonara, Indonesia. During this ritual supposed transgressions of a suku (clan), thought to be the reason for a “bad death” of a suku member, should put in evidence in public. The “bad death” is like a “forefinger from above” to remind the suku member of the fact that their houesehold is still impure and, therefore, had to be purified by the lewak tapo ritual. For the adat community of East Adonara this purification is an “imperative must be,” precisely because it is a question of the suku’s survival.
