Abstract. – The question of spirituality in government has been of interest in anthropology for some time. This article shows the Maya leader of Guatemala in his many functions and responsibilities and his tireless effort to create a peaceful co-existence with the powers in his country and the world. On occasion of the celebrations around December 21st, 2012, to which the author was invited to assist, she accompanied the Mayan leader on a number of official tasks and visited various departmental municipalities.
