Abstract
This text addresses bride abduction in Kyrgyzstan through Victor Turner’s and Arnold van Gennep’s rite of passage theories and Victor Turner’s social drama theory. The text is divided into two parts: the first part proceeds to present the theory of rites of passage and social drama; the second part applies these theories to the abduction of women in the Central Asian country.
